Nick is passionate about chamber music, particularly with new concepts in small ensemble repertoire and programming.
In 2013 he began the brass ensemble project “æðelfrìth”. Specialising in Northern European repertoire and other self written arrangements, it had a brass quintet at it’s nucleus with ‘bolt-ons’ such as electronics, harps, percussions and other brass. The group won the ‘Worshipful Company of Musicians’ brass prize at the Royal Academy of Music in 2013 and subsequently became yeomen of the company. Recital performances at St Martin in the Fields, St John’s Smith Square, Ryedale Festival followed, as well as a live performance on BBC Radio 3. The group was discontinued after three of five members moved out of London, including Nick’s relocation to Norway.
Now Nick is planning future projects based from Bergen, and is interested in collaborating with other musicians, composers and artists. Contact him directly to discuss ideas or opportunities.
