Portal Propagations: An Exhibition

Three and a half years of PhD work is reaching its conclusion over the next couple of weeks as I prepare for the doctoral defence on 7th March.

In the meantime, I’m grateful to the library at AHO for allowing me to put on a pop-up exhibition of the work. It displays many of the reproductions of Urnes Stave Church and its iconic portal – an exhibition of one object through its many copies, without the original. It’s also the first time I have seen even a partial assemblage all laid out on the tables to this extent. The exhibition collects together a broad variety of objects which I think raises interesting questions about how we circulate and consume our cultural heritage.

Welcome to the AHO library, Oslo, open 0830-1800 Monday-Friday.
